UConn Coach Sits out Six Games
By Jackson | Posted Wednesday, February 22
Legendary UConn head coach Jim Calhoun is expected to miss at least six games, as he recovers from a bout of spinal stenosis. Calhoun led UConn to all three of its national titles (and has been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.) His team has struggled during his recovery, and are currently 1-3 during this absence. They defeated Seton Hall but fell to Louisville, Syracuse, and our Marquette Golden Eagles.
Calhoun has had to step back from coaching at various times in his career. He has missed twenty games during his time at Connecticut. Not much public information has been released about the severity of the coach's back issues. Sources have said that surgery is an option. Calhoun is certain that he will return to the sideline after six games. He told reporters that this injury will in no way influence his timeline for retirement.
