Marquette Defeats UW-Milwaukee at Home
By Paul Golden Eagles Guy | Posted Friday, December 23
Marquette didn’t have to travel far for their next game. The Golden Eagles played UW-Milwaukee, and once again took down their cross-town rivals. UW-Milwaukee has not defeated Marquette in just under forty tries. They lost by fourteen, in a game that was probably the most physical and foul laden performance in years. There were 17 turnovers in the first half, on top of 21 combined fouls.
Marquette had two solid runs. The first was when they went 10-1 sandwiched between the half-time buzzer. Milwaukee battled back late in the game and got as close as six points down. Marquette responded with an 11-3 run, and never looked back. Milwaukee shot themselves in the foot with their poor second half shooting.
This game could not have come at a better time for Marquette, after losing to LSU. They stay home for the next two games, playing Vanderbilt on 12/29, and Villanova on New Year’s Day. Vanderbilt is currently 8-4, and coming off a win against Lafayette. Villanova won their first four games of the season but has gone 4-5 since November 18. They beat American 73-52 in front of a home crowd.
