Coaches Poll Ranks Marquette at 21 Before Season Opener
By J. Brigham | Posted Friday, October 21
Marquette is set to open their season in just a few weeks. They rank 21st in a popular pre-season coaches poll. After making it into the third round of the last year's NCAA Tournament, it came as no surprise that the Golden Eagles made the top 25. Some were hoping for a better placement, considering the team’s accomplishments in March, but for all practical purposes their regular season record of 22-15 is more than enough to justify their spot.
To further prove the point, take a look at three of the four teams that ranked lower than Marquette in this year's poll. Cincinnati, Gonzaga, and Missouri all finished with a better record than the Golden Eagles, but were placed twenty-second, twenty-third, and twenty-fifth respectfully.
